Migrations Museum Commission

Pleased to share that the Migrations Museum commissioned me to make a work for their ‘No Turning Back’ exhibition

The exhibition makes enquiry at 7 moments in British migration history, and I was given the topic of the Expulsion of the Jewish community in 1290. Prior to that in 1274 Jewish people over the age of 6 were ordered to wear 2 bands of yellow strips of linen on their chests in order for them to be identified and discriminated against. The work that I will create focuses on the yellow strips and highlights the idea of identification occurred way back from Nazi Germany.
